Beyond standardised tests, we also conduct tailored leak investigations using a combination of hose testing, thermal imaging, moisture meters, and visual inspection.

Leak investigations are highly situational and depend on the type of façade system, the nature of the leak, and the building’s construction. At Australian Facade Hose Testing, we apply a systematic and evidence-based approach to identify the source and path of water ingress.

How the test is performed:

  • Initial assessment of the façade, internal finishes, and surrounding areas for signs of staining, tracking, or deterioration.
  • Non-invasive moisture meters are used to detect elevated moisture levels within wall assemblies, ceilings, or finishes.
  • Thermal cameras help identify temperature anomalies caused by moisture intrusion, especially in concealed areas.
  • Coloured water or fluorescent dye is introduced at suspected breach points to trace the leak path and confirm entry locations.
  • Controlled hose testing (e.g. AAMA 501.2) may be used to replicate leak conditions and isolate the breach.
  • During testing, we monitor the interior side of the façade for signs of water ingress, using two-way communication to coordinate with external testers.
  • Compile findings into a formal PDF report, reviewed by a qualified façade engineer, and delivered to the client with optional follow-up consultation.
